Northbound 77 ramp from East Broad street to close for construction PDF Print E-mail
POSTED: MAY 16, 2012
PRESS RELEASE

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the entrance ramp from East Broad Street onto Interstate 77 northbound in Statesville because of erosion along the banking of I-77 near the ramp. The project will begin on May 23 and will be completed by June 1, weather permitting.

Work will only take place weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. No work will take place on the weekend or on Memorial Day, and the ramp will be open during those times.

The ramp closures are necessary because the slope along the creek bank next to I-77 has been eroding. Crews will stabilize the slope using stone to fill in the area.

Message boards will be located on East Broad Street to provide motorists advance notice of the closure. A daytime detour route from East Broad Street to I-77 North will be set up. Motorists will get on I-77 South to Exit 49B (Salisbury Road) back to I-77 North.

NCDOT encourages motorists to plan ahead and allow plenty of time to reach their destinations safely.
