On Monday July 9th, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team was informed about a subject possibly growing marijuana plants in western Iredell County. Deputies with the A.C.E. Team responded to the suspected residence which is on Patchwork Dr. off of Eufola Rd. to investigate the complaint. Once at the residence, officers came in contact with the owner of the property, Wayne Cornelius Campbell. Lt. T. Miller and Sgt. C. Stone spoke with Mr. Campbell and asked him if there was any marijuana growing on the property. Wayne Campbell was fully cooperative and admitted to deputies that he was in fact growing marijuana inside his house. Deputies located a small marijuana grow operation in a back bedroom There were 5 large plants and 6 smaller plants in individual pots being grown and cared for in the bedroom. Mr. Campbell also had grow lights, fertilizer, potting soil and other gardening items in the room. Officers photographed the scene and confiscated the plants as evidence.
Wayne Cornelius Campbell, 50,of Patchwork Dr, Statesville was charged with Manufacture Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Maintain a Dwelling for Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Campbell was arrested and placed under a $5,000. The 11 marijuana plants ranged in size from 6 inches up to 36 inches in height and have a potential street value of $26,400.
