Statesville man arrested - allegedly stole credit cards at gyms PDF Print E-mail

Sheriff Phil Redmond stated: On July 2, 2012 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office had received a report of Identity Theft, Financial Card Fraud, and Attempted Financial Transaction Card Fraud.  Detective Getz of the Economic Crime Unit was assigned the case. 
According to the incident reports, Detective Getz had received information from Mooresville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division regarding a larceny from a locker that occurred at a Planet Fitness located in Hickory, NC where the victim’s credit card was used throughout Iredell County. According to the Hickory Police Report dated on June 21, 2012, the victim had left his personal items in his backpack inside a locker while he was working out in the gym. When the victim returned to the locker he grabbed his backpack and left the gym. According to the report the victim had arrived home to realize items missing from the backpack and from his wallet. According to Mooresville Police Department there was a similar incident that occurred at the Mooresville location previous to the incident in Hickory. Throughout the investigation Detectives were able to obtain video from several locations where the stolen credit cards were used from both larcenies.  Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Robert Clark Taylor, 30, of Statesville, NC.  Warrants for arrest were issued against Robert Taylor for Identity Theft, Financial Card Fraud, and Attempted Financial Transaction Card Fraud.
 
Robert Taylor was arrested on July 11, 2012 and processed at the Iredell County Detention Center.
