IREDELL DETECTIVES CHARGE STATESVILLE MAN FOR DRUGS
Sheriff Redmond stated: On August 17, 2010, Adam Keith Jones 26,of 572 Bethlehem Rd Statesville, NC met with Iredell County undercover deputies and sold them 50 Roxycotnin tablets.  Jones was immediately arrested and found in his possession of an additional 175 tablets of Roxycontin.  The suspect had a valid prescription for these medications, but at the point where he decided to sell them it became illegal for him to possess these medications.  The main ingredient in Roxycontin is Opium and therefore falls into the Trafficking statutes of the North Carolina drug laws.  The Sheriff's Office had received numerous complaints over the last several months that Adam Jones was bringing large amounts of prescription medication to the Statesville area and reselling them.  The street value for these pills is $5,000.00.  The penalty for Trafficking Opium/Heroin is a mandatory minimum of 90 to 117 months.  Sheriff Redmond stated that, "This is a sign of the ongoing problem across the country involving prescription narcotics".  Adam Jones was arrested for 5 counts of trafficking Opium or Heroin and placed in the Iredell County Sheriff's Office under a $250,000.00 secured bond.
