On November 23, 2010, Sergeant C.L. Stone of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team was working the Troutman area when he came into contact with James Nathaniel Chambers, age 31 of 448 Chambers St. Statesville, who was operating a 1996 Honda Odyssey on Moose Club Road. Sergenat Stone stopped Chambers for a registration violation as well as suspicious activity. While speaking with Chambers, Stone noticed a child in the rear seat of the vehicle who did not have a seatbelt on. Stone returned to his patrol car to issue Chambers a citation. During this time he requested assistance from Sergeant R.T. Chilton. When Chilton arrived he had Chambers exit his vehicle and walk back to Stone's patrol car. While searching him for weapons, deputy's located 4 plastic bags containing a total of 36 grams of marijuana, 3 empty plastic bags, scales, and 2 blunt wraps. Chambers was then placed under arrest for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of more than ½ oz of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child restraint violation. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he received a $1,000 secured bond.
On November 23, 2010, Sergeant C.L. Stone of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team was working the east Statesville area when he stopped a 1998 Chevrolet on Barry Oak Rd. for a registration violation. Stone spoke to the driver, Amy Christine Asmar, age 31 of 133 Ostrich Ln. Cleveland, and advised her of the reason he had stopped her. After checking the validity of her license and registration he returned to her vehicle where he questioned her about the possibility of there being illegal contraband in her vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in locating 6.5 dosage units of klonopin and 2.5 dosage units of valium without a prescription. Asmar was issued two citations and released.
